Program on Innovation and Financial Sustainability

Event Management

Vibrant programming, and particularly academic programming, is an essential aspect of the campus community central to the University’s mission. Brown has the opportunity to rethink event planning and catering needs, among other event services.

The first year of the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the value of conducting some meetings and events virtually, which expands reach and participation.

Charge

The Event Management Work Group is charged with soliciting greater feedback from University stakeholders in order to update and communicate clear policies related to events and judiciously reduce the number of in-person, non-critical events and associated food and beverage budgets.

Initial Planning Efforts

The work group is meeting in fall 2021 to develop an implementation plan.
